In April 1947, 17 provident associations joined together to form Bupa, an international healthcare company, with the purpose of preventing, relieving and curing sickness and ill health of every kind. A UK-based company, BUPA began with just 38,000 members.

BUPA has grown and their 84,000 people serve 17.9 million health insurance customers worldwide and millions more at their facilities. BUPA runs clinics, hospitals, dental centers, care homes, and retirement villages in the UK, Australia, Spain, Chile, Poland, New Zealand, Hong Kong SAR, Turkey, Brazil, Mexico, USA, Middle East and Ireland.
